Hoppping in the FRANK WHALEY time machine for this post (at least as it is concerned to the initial three posts) we shall peruse ourselves today through the 1989 film none could escape, because as we learned in this film "if you build it, they will come!" and to the theatres they did go. Alas most people fondly remember the film Field of Dreams due to the stars Kevin Costner and Ray Liotta, but FrankWhaleyfan42 only knows of two stars of this film and that is the man FRANK WHALEY and the undeniable James Earl Jones (my love for James Earl Jones is only overshadowed by my love of FRANK WHALEY.) While I do understand that Kevin Costners Ray Kinsella character was rather integral to the plot, one would be hard pressed to even imagine this film being in existance without such scenes as:

Yet somehow these scenes have been overlooked since this films release which leaves me begging fans of Field of Dreams to revisit the film as it truly should be known, FRANK WHALEY and JAMES EARL JONES' Field Of Dreams and with this new outlook on Field Of Dreams you may just find surprise that it is a whole new film for your viewing pleasure!

Lighting a fire under Oliver Stones ass!

In 1965 Los Angeles, CA four musicians got together to create a band called The Doors if you don't know who they are I would suggests hitting up either iTunes or Wikipedia to inundate yourself but first you should probably crawl out from under the rock you have been living beneath. For the rest us The Doors came and saddly went almost as fast as they arrived but not without leaving a lasting impression upon music let alone rock music. Come 1991 and director Oliver Stone released his biopic on the band complete with the then blossoming star Val Kilmer in the role of Jim Morrison, and much like how Jim Morrison overshadowed the song writing mastery of The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger (I am pretty sure this has something to do with Morrisons stage defication act), Val "Iceman" Kilmers take on lead man Morrison was honed in on by the masses while FRANK WHALEY's genius portrayal of the true Doors mastermind Robby Krieger somehow got slid to the peripherals of the film. To this I find myself very perplexed as how could the mind behind The Doors biggest hit "Light My Fire" be shuffled out of the spotlight? Add to that the immense complexity FRANK WHALEY brought to the role of the "not-so-certain of himself" musician and I am left pretty much just completely pissed off (of course then Meg Ryan gets naked and I get happy again) at the film and director Oliver Stone. Now Oliver Stone is usually known to break the popular ideals of how history happened and shed light on other facets' the masses may have overlooked (mainly latent homosexuality though.. so I guess maybe if Krieger was closeted he would have gotten a bigger part) yet on this film he seemingly stuck to the commercial Jim Morrison.

With all these facts in tow, I say we FRANK WHALEY fans march upon Oliver Stone and demand a THE DOORS REDUX: THE KRIEGER/WHALEY CUT that adds to the amazing scenes of FRANK WHALEY as Robby Krieger like the one below:

Yes my FRANK WHALEY consortium, we shall yet change the world of cinema in FRANK WHALEY's image and all that have overlooked his works shall then kneel before us in utter appreciation of our gift of WHALEY-ism!

In this economy we all need some CAREER OPPORTUNITIES!

Fantasy can be fun, and for most of us having the above type of encounter with actress Jennifer Connelly indeed would only exist with in the aforementioned mental delusion. Alas there is one man whom can claim such an encounter in fact... well maybe Paul Bettany can claim it as well... and possibly Dave Dugan... well and maybe Keith David in that one scene from Requiem For A Dream and with that maybe Jared Leto, Russell Crowe, Rufus Sewell, Eric Bana and Joaquin Phoenix (pre-beard) too (Wow J.C. you sure get around!) N-E-ways back to my initial point that is now rather crowded, in the early 90's when a little film called CAREER OPPORTUNITIES began its initial promotions involving a "down on his luck normal joe janitor" like you and I (not saying you are a custodian, or down on your luck.. but if you are reading this it is probably a good guess) getting inexplicably locked inside of a Target store overnight with a "rebelling against her daddy so a down on his luck normal joe could possibly have a chance to score with" Jennifer Connelly, I do not know what straight male was not immediately drawn to such insanely genius marketing imagery as the below:



and with that was not immediately imagining themself in FRANK WHALEY's shoes wooing Ms. Connelly with their geek wit and all that such wherewithal. Ohh yes my good followers you have now begun to understand the breadth of my FRANK WHALEY fanaticism but do trust this rabbit hole goes much further and with my intent being to see you to terms with your own FRANK WHALEY fan revelation I will maintain with you all the way to FRANK WHALEY Wonderland!
